I am a doctoral student at the Ohio State University. I am also a regular blogger and am interested in learning more about why female doctoral students blog. I have found your blog on the internet and am interested in studying your blog posts and then asking you questions about various aspects of your blog experience. If you keep your blog anonymous, I will be using the pseudonym you provide on your blog. If you keep your blog public, I would like to use your real name in my research, if you consent to this. This research will last for approximately eight weeks as I study and analyze themes of female doctoral student blogs and interview you to gain more insight into the blogging phenomenon. I would like to interview you via email approximately 4 times and these interviews should take you no more than one hour to complete. Questions I will ask you in the email interviews will include:
- Why do you blog?
- Why did you begin to blog?
- How did you learn how to create a blog
- How do you decide what to blog about?
- What do you like to blog most about?
- What does your blog say about you?
- In what ways do you use your blogs?
- What other blogs to do you read most? Why?
- Who comments on your blog?
- Who reads your blog? How do you know?
- Who do you want to read your blog?
- What have you learned from writing a blog?
- Have their been any unexpected outcomes as a result of writing a blog?
- Is there anything else you want me to know about your blog?
Your participation in this research is voluntary and you may leave the study at any time. In addition, you may elect to only answer interview questions that you feel comfortable answering, or none at all.
